Packing for moves in Rochdale

Packing in Rochdale covers the rooms you would rather not box yourself: kitchens, glass, pictures and the cartons that have to survive a van. It is booked with a move, or on its own if you only need the packing.

What we pack, and what stays with you

Packing in Rochdale is the part of a move that decides whether the kitchen is usable on the first night. We box what you ask us to box. We label by room. We do not decide which of your belongings matter. Passports, cash, medicines, laptops and jewellery should travel with you, not in a carton on the van.

A typical request is the kitchen, the glass cabinet and the pictures. Bedding and books are often already in bags or boxes. Tell us the truth about that. If the loft is full of loose ornaments, say so before the day. Finding them at 8am changes the timetable.

This service sits next to house removals and flat removals. You can add it to either. An office that wants files crated can add it to office removals.

How a packed room should look

Boxes need to close flat and be liftable. China is wrapped. Glasses are not stacked loose. Pictures are protected at the corners. We mark boxes that must stay upright. You will still want a first-night box of your own: kettle, mugs, snacks, phone chargers, toilet roll and bedding. We can leave that box aside if you point it out.

Do not ask us to pack paint, fuel, gas bottles or open food. If you are unsure about an item, ask before we arrive.

Houses we pack most often

Family houses in Bamford, Healey, Shawclough and Wardle often have a full kitchen and a cabinet of glass. Terraces near the town centre have less space to stack boxes, so we pack in an order that keeps a path to the door. Flats need the same care, with the added note of a lift or a long stair.

We are listed at 4 Swain Street, Rochdale OL12 0QW. Packing happens at your address. That listed address is not a public warehouse.

What affects the cost

How many rooms

One kitchen is quicker than every cupboard in a family house.

How fragile the contents are

China, mirrors and pictures take longer than bedding and towels.

Whether we also move the boxes

Packing only, or packing plus a move, are quoted as you describe them.

How ready the house is

A room you have already sorted is faster than one we have to clear of rubbish and donations.

When we do it

The day before the move is often calmer than packing and loading on the same morning.

How our packing service works

  1. 1

    Tell us which rooms

A kitchen and the glass is a different job from a whole house. Say what is already boxed.

  2. 2

    We agree materials and time

The quote includes the packing you asked for. If you add the loft on the day, we may not have time or boxes for it.

  3. 3

    We pack and label

Boxes are filled so they can be lifted, then labelled with the room. You keep documents, jewellery and medicines with you.

Packing service FAQs

Can you pack just the kitchen?

Yes. Tell us that on the quote. We will not assume you want every room done.

Do you bring the boxes?

Yes, for the rooms we are packing. If you are packing some rooms yourself, say so, so we do not bring a surplus or run short.

Should I empty drawers?

Clothes drawers that are sturdy can often travel as they are, with tape or a wrap if we agree that. Papers, jewellery and anything that can spill should come out.

Are packed goods covered?

Insurance is provided. Ask us what is covered when you book. Goods you packed yourself may be treated differently from goods we packed, so ask that question directly.

Can you unpack at the other end?

Ask for it on the quote if you want boxes opened and materials taken away. We do not stay to unpack unless that was agreed.
